Short answer: A useful BSC customer portal gives an authorized customer access to their cabinets, current and historical certificates, certification dates, next due dates, open service status, and a clear way to request help or download controlled documents. It should not expose internal technician notes, unrelated customer records, draft results, pricing not intended for that user, or cross-account search. The portal is most valuable when it reduces certificate-chasing while preserving the service company as the source of the issued record.
Make current certificates easy to find
Customers should be able to search or filter by facility, room, cabinet asset ID, manufacturer, model, serial number, certificate number, and due window. Show current status first while keeping superseded or voided versions clearly labeled.
Show the renewal information customers need
Expose the last completed date, next due date, and relevant scheduling status without promising a service date that has not been confirmed. A due-soon view can help facility contacts coordinate access across multiple departments.
Keep draft and internal material private
Field drafts, internal QA comments, technician assignment notes, commercial discussions, and records belonging to another customer should never appear because a URL was guessed or a broad search was used. Apply customer and role boundaries to every read path.
Record document access and service requests
Track when a controlled document is delivered or downloaded if that evidence matters to the shop. Service requests should create a traceable intake record rather than an email that becomes disconnected from the cabinet history.
Support verification without requiring an account
A limited public verification page can confirm a certificate presented by QR code or number. Keep the authenticated portal for broader history and customer actions; public verification should disclose only the minimum needed to validate one record.
